Integration is an essential ingredient that is all too often left out of the mix. Within smart buildings, traditional processes and tried and tested methods are often specified and installed. However, our needs are evolving. We no longer require a disconnected lump of concrete, we require a smart, unified building that adapts with our needs, utilises smart technology, is environmentally friendly and enhances our experience.

One of the core barriers within the industry is integration. There is a lack of uniform standards, many different protocols (some proprietary), devices and systems from different vendors and a lack of skilled roles specialising in networking, systems integration, data management and data security. Therefore, it’s difficult to achieve the ultimate goal of a smart, connected building that facilitates connectivity between various devices and systems. The roles of System Integrators and Smart Building Consultants are integral but still aren’t standard on every project. Where they are present, they can have a hugely positive impact and their degree of influence can be very high, helping to steer the construction process in the right direction to accommodate smart technology integration further down the supply chain.

amBX software can act as a middleware layer, enabling connectivity of various building systems and devices. Our full suite of APIs, including a BACnet interface, allows for easy integration with 3rd party systems, analytics platforms and connectivity with the cloud.

SmartCore is our smart building control product, we have various dashboards that allow smart building stakeholders to commission the solution and facility managers to control building services and gain insights from data gathered.

We also offer bespoke versions of these dashboards, custom made for your needs, and we offer a white-label option. The dashboards can be easily packaged into one, so multiple building services can be used from one dashboard, you only pay for what you use.

Lighting

Our software powers the Molex CoreSync platform enabling smart buildings and smart campuses. Our joint solution orchestrates disparate building systems such as PoE lighting, meeting room management, audiovisual, powered shades, and building automation systems.

We also act as a front-end, visual dashboard for Xicato. We are helping them offer their Bluetooth lighting products to a wider market.

HVAC

HVAC control enables improved energy efficiency and connectivity with the rest of the building services to make facilities management more efficient and save precious time and money.

We have recently partnered with a large Middle Eastern-based conglomerate that operates within Construction and Facilities Management. They require an adaptable software solution that can mitigate delivery issues and ensure everything remains connected and compliant.

Building Management System (BMS)

Many Building Management Systems within retrofit projects are proprietary, which means costs are often very high when changes need to be made, e.g. to improve the sustainability of the building.

We work with System Integrators to devise solutions that easily link disparate, proprietary and new systems together without any complex programming.
